Get a complimentary code signing certificate
If you’ve already published an AIR application, chances are you did that by using a self signed code certificate. When you installed the app, the AIR installer told you that the publisher’s identity is unknown.

If you get a code signing certificate from a company like Thawte.com and use that to sign your application, it’s obvious that your identity has been verified. The AIR installer will show that your identity is known.

If you upload your application to the Adobe AIR Marketplace now, you are eligible to receive one Thawte code signing certificate (1 year Class 3 code signing certificate) from Adobe. As this is purely available on a first-come, first-served basis and supplies are limited, you might not want to wait too long to upload your app.
Read details here and then go upload your app on the Adobe AIR Marketplace.

Why would I want a one year certificate ? It’ll just cause me more work down the line when I have to chance back to a self signed one.
I’m not paying 100 dollars just to make a dialogue no users read have one less red mark.
That’s just awesome !
Are just companies eligible, or individual people ?
@tom – This is how code certificates work. They have to be renewed every year or two depending on what you bought. A 1 year certificate has a value of $300
@Dhaya – I will have to check on this. It is my understanding that you can only get a code signing certificate if you have an official company. I will check and get back to you.
@Tom : I can assure you the dialog box can seem quite scary to people not really understanding these things. They would rather stop the installation process than risking problems with their computer.
@Dhaya – We’re currently only offering certificates from Thawte. Thawte issues these certificates to individuals backed by a company. Check https://www.thawte.com/ssl-digital-certificates/free-guides-whitepapers/pdf/enroll_codesign_eng.pdf for more info.
That’s too bad. I hope you’ll find soon a partner who can produce code signing certificates to individuals.
