Good list.

#2, in fact streaming any video can cost $$
#4, DRM ...false sense of security and simply a response to demand but doesn't live up to expectations. DRM == bad news. Having said this, nothing in Flash is worse than any other alternative.
#6 isn't totally true--but, really, I do think it'd be nice if there was an official system level .flv player (and not something as bloated as AMP)

But... still... good list!

@Michael van Leest: You are right. It currently only works with AIR applications. I will double check to make sure.

Hi Serge,

#4: THe FMS rights server is only for AIR applications right? I thought this was somewhere on the FMS product page if I can remember correctly. I'm building a Media Delivery system, but for security reasons some of the content providers only sell their content with a special WMP drm plugin for playing via the browser. (Don't ask me why, it's just like that...) So if the Rights Server also works for the Flash Player (and not only in AIR), I think I might get them to switch over to the flash media server... :-) Any more info on this is appreciated!

#6-- And lets not forget the venerable Adobe Director (for building desktop executables and Director Shockwave webapps), which natively supports connections to Flash media server (and therefore Red5 as well?).

On #6, where Flash Lite 2.0 supported only device video, and only on top of all other content (i.e. no masking or custom borders), Flash Lite 3.0 added support for FLV and Flash Lite 3.1 adds H.64 as well. Browser, desktop and mobile!
