Video tutorial: Create Flex container components with Flash CS4

In this video I show you how to make a Flex container component with Flash CS4 and the Flex Component Kit for Flash.

The Flex Component Kit for Flash is incredibly powerful and allows you to combine your Flash design/development skills with the power of the Flex framework.

That is really cool. I really like the videos you put out that show how to integrate all of the tools together to produce something that is useful in flex. I am a Flex developer who is fairly proficient in photoshop but seriously lacking in flash. Keep up the good work!

good post, but the components done in flash are not scalable( you must keep them at the same size). I.E if I place a button inside my new container then specify a height or width which is bigger or smaller than the container created in flash the contents will change there size.
Can we give the FlexContentHolder properties similar to a Canvas or Box?

Link to the kit seems to be broken.

Thanks for pointing that out. This is an error and it should be back shortly. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Love the quick and to-the-point videos, Serge. Like Kenneth points out, the containers distort when scaled in Flex Builder. Is it possible to add scale nine grids on these?

i have the component installed on flash cs4 and create the component but when i publish and import it into flex, i can add the container but when i try to add something to the container like a button or text, it wont add it on the container via code or draging it to the container…. it only shows the container empty even if i create the correct code…. it only shows the personal panel without buttons…. why is this??

    Hey Phoenix.

You have to be sure to add the flexcontentholder on the first sublevel of the symbol in flash(first doubleclick the symbol then add the contentholder into that level).

i first missed that and had the same problem as you.

    hope it helps.

thanks for that tutorial, this is realy cool!
