Two of the most requested features for AIR were the ability to create native installers and to launch/talk to native applications. Among other new features, AIR 2 allows you to do that. To build these native installers you have to use the command line compiler.
A while back I was thinking if it would be possible [...]

Write once, deploy anywhere. Sounds nice, no? Sadly it’s not really a reality today. The currently available technologies are very fragmented and today there is no technology out there that makes that dream a reality.
I have a strong feeling that is going to change dramatically in 2010. Some will disagree or say that I am [...]

Oh wow… Just last April Fool’s day, I joked about this… and now it’s real!
From Crunchgear:
Two researchers from Japan’s Keio University (which yours truly attended just until recently by the way) have developed a kitchen appliance aimed at the total web geek in you, a YouTube-powered microwave. The so-called Castoven [JP] is based on a conventional, unbranded [...]

I came across this video on Ubergizmo and I wish this was real today…! The video demonstrates a multi-touch tablet to read magazines in full color with video, audio and online capabilities. The video is created by The Wonder Factory and other than that, there really isn’t any more information out there. While it’s only [...]

I’m sure it won’t shock you when I say that Adobe software is used extensively in Hollywood. Avatar, James Cameron’s new movie, is no exception. So which Adobe software did they use and how?
PHOTOSHOP was used during the early conceptual stages to create art for getting the film green-lit by FOX. In addition to being [...]

Rob Ford’s Tweet this morning caught my attention. “We need 1 day when the Flash player is disabled just to appreciate how it lights up the web“, he said. I completely agree… We’ve become so accustomed to Flash just being there that we no longer realize how much it is used and how it “lights [...]

Recently I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the performance and stability of the Flash Player and AIR runtimes. I got another one just this morning and thought it would be a good idea to write a quick blog post about this.
Let’s talk about Flash Player first. In all honesty, I also encounter the [...]

One of the most requested features for both Flash Player and AIR is definitely a spell checker. Grant Skinner released a spell check engine about 2 years ago and it has been used in number of different applications. While it was totally worth the cost, I did hear from some people that they thought this [...]

Before we start and just so we get this out of the way… For 2 years now, Adobe pays my paycheck. That said, I “saw the light” of Flash more than 13 years ago. Because of my long history with Flash, I feel I can say that this is an unbiased post.
Everywhere
First of all, Flash [...]

In case you haven’t heard: ColdFusion 9 Beta and ColdFusion Builder Beta are now available on Adobe Labs. Some of you may find this surprising (;-)) but I’ve been playing with CF9 for a few months now and actually really love it!
To give you a bit of an idea on what I like about CF9, [...]

Thank you for this great release!
One question – where can I get debug version of the players?

So do these “smart phones” include the iPhone? :)
Please say yes!

Great stuff, even though I experienced a few issues while going through the update process of AIR 2 and running the new FP 10.1.
Just posted the info on my blog as well so if anyone at Adobe is interested, pass it on.

I’m tracking those down for you. More info soon.

Nokia is using Adobe’s Linux Reference SDK to port Flash Player 10.1 to the Maemo operating system. Nokia will be responsible for Flash Player updates on the Maemo platform and has not made announcements about availability.

I’m sorry, Riaan… Adobe needs full support from Apple beyond what is available through the SDK to enable Web browsing of Flash content on the iPhone. That said… With the upcoming beta release of Flash Pro CS5, Adobe is responding to the demand from developers and content providers worldwide to use Flash Pro tools to develop and deliver rich applications to the iPhone via the iPhone App Store.

Thanks for the info! Did you post this info on the pre-release forum (http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/flashplayer10/)?
