I can imagine that you had a hard time picking out the design you like most The design by Marten doesn’t differ that much from the current design. I also agree with Evert that I’m not totally wild about the display of the dates.

@Joel: I always thought that flash and SEO are two things that cannot go together? I presume it requires a lot more work to make flash SEO friendly?

I completely agree with Logic.

I continue to be befuddled as to why Flashers don’t use Flash to make their sites. There’s absolutely no reason not to. Resizeability, SEO, BACK/FWD buttons, deep-linking, etc can all be easily accomplished. And yet I still hear well-known, highly reputed Flashers saying Flash should be used ONLY where necessary. Like it’s some 2nd class citizen. Hogwash!

I’m creating a framework for non-Flashers to easily create Flash sites that will be completely standards compliant and will be updateable from the browser. The first version is http://sympleton.com – but that was written 5 years ago – when I was new to Flash. The next version will contain all that I’ve learned as a Professional Flasher these past 5 years.

We keep hearing that Flash is better. Well, it is – but Flashers need to put their money where their mouth is.

@Logic: You got a very good point there and believe me… It has crossed my mind many many times and I’m sure it will cross my mind again and again. The biggest problem is time… But I’m definitely not saying I won’t do it at some point…

Congrats to the winner! Although honestly, those entries weren’t that much better than what you have right now…

I think you should try converting the blog into Flash technology (like it used to be around here!). All the platform evangelists trying to convince how good the flash/flex technology is, end up using HTML technology instead, what’s up with that?

I know it’s “just a blog”… and HTML has it advantages, but I still think you guys should team up, build/use your own blog software based on Adobe Flash/Flex technology. Bring it up to the next level and prove that it will beat the cr*p out of HTML5! :)
