Android week: Win a Google Nexus One!
So today is my birthday… ehr… I mean… Today is the start of Google I/O! To celebrate both occasions, I am giving away a Google Nexus One to one of my readers.
I’m sure you all know that Flash Player 10.1 and AIR 2 are coming to mobile devices. In order to win the Google Nexus One I want you to tell me which site(s)/app(s)/game(s) (built with Flash) you are most looking forward to using on your mobile device. What have you been missing on your current mobile device? Which application do you want to build with AIR for Android? Just leave a comment below and I will pick a random winner from all entries on Friday May 21st at 12pm GMT.
Easy, huh?
Just a few simple rules:
- The Google Nexus One phone is unlocked and ready to be used anywhere in the world.
- I will ship the device anywhere in the world using Fedex.
- This contest is open to anyone anywhere unless prohibited by law in your country.
- The winner will be picked randomly.
- Entries can be submitted until Friday May 21st 11:59am GMT.
- If you win, you will be notified by email. That means you have to enter a valid email address when you post a comment! If the email bounces, I will pick a new winner.
- In order to fight spam, the comments on this blog are moderated. Don’t panic if your comment does not appear immediately.
Looking forward to your comments!
UPDATE: This contest is now over. The winner is Patrick Welfringer. Thank you all for your comments!

Happy birthday Serge!
There are a lot of interesting things with flash, but one of the most impressive I see a couple of weeks ago was this animation of universe:
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/525347
And, of course, to see videos like vimeo.com or megavideo will be amazing!
Thank you
$(Figue)
Hi. I’m looking forward to using http://www.stockcharts.com and their flash enabled stock chart annotation program.
I just want to see porn sites ;) haha just kidding. There isn’t any particular site in particular.
I want to try http://www.twhirl.org/ in my phone. I would like to play Act of War AOW:DO for sure.
Hi Serge
I would like to see games from http://www.newgrounds.com and how will interact with Flash in new OS.
What I’m missing on my HTC magic is mainly CPU/GPU power. Installing 2.1 is big risk.
What to build? First a want to see how AIR is working on new OS and is it really easer then Googles JAVA API :)
regards
hi and happy b-day!
I will definitely do vimeo and youtube. also, my wife will be farmville-ing a lot! ;)
I would like to be able to load http://www.digitalvaults.org on my phone
I want to see the new powerflasher (http://www.powerflasher.de) site running on the nexus one with all these cool particles
Dear Serge,
happy birthday!
Personally, as a pure Android user and less of a developer/tech junkie, I won’t care if an app is written in Flash, AIR, Android SDK or what ever kind of development kit is needed to get it. I do know however that many developers like to use Flash so if it means apps will be more, better and with greater support than how it is now.
I’d love to see a great app which can combine all kinds of social media like Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook etc. into one app. There are tons of those but if it is made scalable and customizable it would have an advantage. Users can choose a variety of social media they want to use and use plugins for that maybe, and developers could also build their own custom plugins to connect to any API they want.
No idea if this idea is at all Flash or AIR worthy, but do with it what you will. :)
Take care,
Tsubasa.
i’d like to see the site im working right now in this nexus one.
simple like that.
i got a htc touch and gave up buying a iPhone;
[i don't want to give money to those who want to ruin my career].
_happy birthday
Hey..thanks for having this contest..happy start of google i/o everyone..
which site(s)/app(s)/game(s) (built with Flash) you are most looking forward to using on your mobile device.
Any.. I have a BlackBerry Storm which supports nothing… having the ability to access good games would be a god send since I have two young kids who are now completely bored of the two default games that came with my BB Storm.
What have you been missing on your current mobile device?
Mainly a good video experience, Blackberry youtube app sucks.
Which application do you want to build with AIR for Android?
Currently developing an application for AIR ready for Android/Desktop deployment that provide quality learning resources to my students.
Derek
I cant wait to watch abc australia’s iview flash website on my phone
http://www.abc.net.au/iview/
Although I can’t understand why people create flash websites, it would be nice to see them.
I would like to make funky spacy pancakes on a flash application! =)
Can’t wait for putten the apps on my SD.
Happy Birthday!
What sites am I most looking forward to using on my mobile device?
Ans. my workplace website http://www.tot.co.th
What have you been missing on your current mobile device?
Ans. all of site that work with flash
Which application do you want to build with AIR for Android?
I want to build my app to use with my job that make me can connect with my server
I’m really looking to finally have an Android device …
Definitely kongregate. I think my main use will be the bounty of games that will become available with Air and Flash support =]
I’m looking forward to view websites like dumpert.nl or other sites that publish videos that require flash to play them. Sure YouTube is nice for watching videos, but i’d like to view other video streaming sites as well.
Also I’d love to view deucescracked and/or cardrunners to view poker related videos using their flash streaming content.
Rico
Have a great day Serge!!
It’s the device of my dreams Nexus One.
My favourite site that I’m looking forward to using via mobile is
http://www.kraftwerk.com/ (I love the electro music from Germany).
And then I’d like use Tweetdeck for be always update on Twitter and Facebook.
Now I have only an old Nokia :(
Thanks for the great chance!
Hi Serge,
have a great birthday, with lots of flash and air moments!
What I would be looking for is an app that integrates the media player functionalities of the phone, I am thinking of a player that automatically plays all videos, displays pictures and plays music (when viewing pictures) in a nice browsable format. Thinking of the cubed media player for android for example.
Of course this app should be able to directly integrate with social apps, to tweet, buzz and upload the chosen content.
Of course some nice games are great too, but this would not be what I am at first instance looking for.
Happy birthday Serge!
The site/app/game(s) you are most looking forward to using on your mobile device are:
- Site: Kongregate
- App: Picnik.
- Game: You have to burn the rope
I have been missing on my current mobile device is to play videos in Megavideo.
The application I want to build with AIR for Android is a puzzle game. I’m making games on Flash so I’m doing games adapted on mobile devices but I have an iPhone and I don’t have money to buy a Nexus. :-(
I really like to see Tweetdeck working through the AIR add-on. Further there are some really nice movie streaming and television apps on AIR that should then also work on mobile making it a much more versatile device then it currently is.
It’s gotta be BBC iPlayer for me; I use it all the time at home and to get that on my new G1 would be a DREAM!! Having a BB 8900 Curve I miss a lot of good web content and as for AIR – I’d build a decent trade website that handles no currency and asigns a points value to an item so people can swap… and then I can get rid of some of my sh*t without listing fees (“,)
i ammostly just looking foreward to watching hulu on my phone amd other streaming media.
Btw happy birthaday, mine is tomorrow
have fun @ the I/O
would love to see an app that shows where the parties are. connected to all big party sites :)
Happy birthday,
I would like to see, the live section of bwin.com on my nexus one. I love to make a bet:P
Thanks,
bye
Hi Serge, happy birthday! I know exactly where you were last year on this day! ;-)
I would really like the google nexus one because it would allow me to develop for a mobile platform. At school I’m learing flex, air, as3, but I can’t put them to use on my mobile device.
I want to contribute to the gigantic Flash community out there, but to do that I need a device to test on :-).
I’m talking about games and RIA’s. I would be able to prove that mobile devices and flash go well together to all the naysayers out there!
I really miss flash quite often, for example at 2M10, I saw some people running around with a box of Flex. And there was a url on there, I surfed to the site but couldn’t see it because I didn’t have flash… With a nexus one in my pocket I wouldn’t have that problem :-).
Enjoy the rest your birthday!!
Joni Van Bogaert
Hi Serge,
I don’t play any games on my Android phone. I just like to see all webpages as they are intended to be seen.
Any flash games site
I have my G1 for more then a year. The most used apps for me are: Phone (calling/texting), Gmail, Google Maps, Browser and Facebook. And also some games.
I would like to see the balloon tower of defence games of http://www.ninjakiwi.com on a Android phone. They are great!
An accounting application with OCR would be nice. Just take a picture of a bill and OCR will recognize the spend amount of money, let you choose the account to book it. A link to gnuCash would be really cool (as I use this at home).
First off: Happy Birthday!
I am mostly looking forward to http://www.kongregate.com/ nice simple flash games to kill some time.
The thing I currently miss the most is Google Navigation, but it is coming. What would be next is some more open source software for Android. And maybe I could create an AIR application to read PDFs. Since that is also a bit flaky in most applications.
Looking forward to playing kongregate games with Flash. Would like to see UFC on demand optimized for mobile flash!
I’d like to see Balsamiq Mockups viewer (Adobe Air) available on Android.
It would be nice just to browse the web and see all embedded video’s everywhere (youtube, vimeo etc..)
Also I think there’s a lot of potential for Flash-based games on Android, as well as AIR apps like Seesmic etc..
Flash on Android would also prove that Flash and Android are way ahead of stubborn Steve Jobs and his precious iPhone..
Tom.
Hello, I’m looking forward to the Google I/O! Even with a live-stream, you really do know how to attract (future) members of the Google family, like me, needing Flash on a mobile device. ;)
I would really like to have some sort of MSN widget on one of the homescreens. But the best part would be the integration of the msn-games! Would be a nice time-killer if I could play some 7 Hand Poker with one of my mates, on the go. You might tell Microsoft to make the program with AIR for Android.
Greets from sunny Netherlands!
I’ll stay with my HTC Hero for now, just hope Adobe Flash will work on it as smooth as on the nexus one..
If they even release it for my Hero. Since the first videos of flash on android were showing flash on a HTC Hero, but i also read that the snapdragon cpu or above was required…
Any word on that Serge?
I gues were goin to find out later today or tomorrow.
And if its realy not goin to work on my Hero, i gues there is no other way to play kongregates G-switch and i’ll accept the N1, cos its realy addictive :)
btw, love your presentations at 2M10.
I will start to develop my own flash applications! :)
Hello!
Yes, I am so addictive to facebook games.
It simply means that I able to play flash games in Nexus One even I am on the train!!
I am waiting for your good news 24/7 :P
Thank you.
Ben
I’d love to surf to my own website using android OS!
I think every site, application or game could use Flash to create a richer user experience!
Hi, i am an Android user since last month, when got my HTC Desire, and I love it to bits.
I am using the Gmail app for my mail because the standard mail app does not work so well with gmail.
What I miss, however is the ability to select and copy text in an email. It would be great to be able to do that.
Best regards,
Hans van Hoolwerff
Which site(s)/app(s)/game(s) (built with Flash) you are most looking forward to using on your mobile device?
I would love to get http://www.dumpert.nl/ flash movies on my mobile! Also some online webbrowser based games would be great!
What have you been missing on your current mobile device?
I currently have a HTC Hero with a stable custom Android 2.1 rom. The market is expanding rapidly, but I’m still missing some iPhone store games on it. I also miss a decent app to quickly get all city information and download it to my mobile device, so that I can see where to go in other countries (so that’s offline, without data connection).
Which application do you want to build with AIR for Android?
I’m currently almost finished with my computer science batchelor and planning to continue developement for Android as soon as I’ve got the time. My upcoming project would have to do something with the dutch ‘OV Chipkaart’, I’d rather not share any other details as of now.
I want to use the streaming site for my favorite radio station 89X. They changed over to a flash based stream late last year which I have not managed to get streaming on my phone yet :(
Happy B-day!
I’am looking forward to watch dirty flash movies on the internet :)
