Flash Builder 4.6 & Flex SDK 4.6
Yeah… I know… You probably already know about this and yes… I am a bit late to the party but I promise to return to my normal blogging schedule soon. The last couple of weeks I’ve been mostly occupied with looking for a place to live and when I found it furnishing it and getting everything hooked up and getting all the paperwork done took just about all my time. But back to the topic of this blog post.
Flash Builder 4.6 and Flex SDK 4.6 are available now. The one thing you may have missed is that this is a FREE UPDATE for Flash Builder 4.5 owners! Quick note: The update is not delivered by the update manager so you must download the trial of Flash Builder 4.6 and then you can use your Flash Builder 4.5 serial number to activate. You also must uninstall your previous version of Flash Builder 4.5 or 4.5.1 before installing 4.6.
The biggest new features in the SDK are the new mobile components. For Flash Builder I’d say that the ability of adding native extensions to your AIR apps as well as the ability to compile your apps with captive runtime support are the biggest additions to Flash Builder 4.6. Michael Chaize has a great post describing the new Flex 4.6 components and how to use them. He also talks about the new features in Flash Builder 4.6.
Michael also just released The Game Of Flex. The Game Of Flex is a quiz with 16 questions, and it’s a real game, which means that if you correctly answer all the questions you get a chance to win a copy of Flash Builder 4.6!!!
You should also check out Holly Schinsky’s post on how to use the new MapQuest API in your Flex 4.6 applications. It’s pretty amazing to see how advanced MapQuest has become and how easy it is to implement this in your Flex or Flash applications.

Everyone say that it’s free for cs5 / cs5.5 updates, i have bought packages earlier but FB4.6 still asks serial cause its saying this serial is not for this product… how come?
Worth to mention that i own WP full-package of CS5 and upgrade package for WP CS5.5…
@Danel: Can you please try installing it as a trial first, run it, quit it, run it again and then enter the CS5.5 serial?

I have the same problem of Daniel.
I try to unistall fb 4.5, after install fb 4.6, run in trial mode, quit, restar my mac, re-open fb 4.6, but fb 4.6 say the serial number is not valid.
I have a original license of cs 5.5, 5, 4, 3, studio mx, and studio 2004 mx…..
??????
I got this from the Flash Builder product team:
“FB needs to be installed in the same language as CS5.5. Also try de-activating the suite and then re-activating. If unsuccessful then call support for assistance.”
@Serge first message, yep done it many times now but still FB says (at both serials) that this key is not for this version of FB4.6
@Serge second message, tried that as well now but no luck, not with CS5 nor CS5.5 serial.
Anyhow i know this is a very common problem, majority is experiencing this problem and i’ll join the force of waiting a working fix.
Got 60 Days anyway and all functions are working so if nothing is fixed by then i’ll try with support as last chance of hope :P Most important is that FP5.5 is working.

Hi, i have successfully installed FB 4.6 and I’m getting compilation errors—
Can not resolve a multiname reference unambiguously. JSON (from /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/sdks/4.6.0/frameworks/libs/air/airglobal.swc(JSON, Walker)) and com.adobe.serialization.json:JSON don’t know how to solve this. Can any one help me?

It’s a shame that we, the CS5.5 owners, can’t upgrade our FB 4.5 to 4.6, untill there is a whole CS update.
This make me reconsider to buy another CS. What’s the point if I won’t be able to upgrade my paid software?
I feel cheated.
@artwitto: FB4.6 will also work with your CS5.5 serial. Just download the trial version and use the CS5.5 serial.
