Adobe and Intel are hosting an event later today in San Francisco around AIR development and distribution. Obviously not all of you live close to the bay area, but the event will be broadcasted live via Connect. You can follow it on http://my.adobe.acrobat.com/applab.
I heard through the grapevine that we may even launch a few new things on Adobe Labs after the event… So join the Connect session and keep an eye on Labs ;-)
I know this event is in the middle of the night for us here in Europe but it will be worth it.
Agenda: ( Time in PST. Check this link for the time in your location. )
5:30 PM – Flash Platform Services Overview (Adobe)
6:00 PM – Intel AppUp Center Business Model and Opportunity (Intel)
7:00 PM – Technical Deep Dive (Adobe)

I am so looking forward to this trip! I’ve been lucky enough to be able to visit Tokyo a few times in the past and it really is one of my favorite cities in the world. On this trip I’ll also visit Osaka and Taipei.
Flex User Group Japan Tour 2010
This tour (11 locations in total) has been going on a for a few weeks now and I will be joining the tour for the last two events. On July 24th we’ll be in Osaka and on the 28th we round up the tour in Tokyo. There are some amazing speakers lined up for both events. Registration is free but required.
I absolutely do not speak any Japanese but I’ll try to learn a few words before the events ;-) If you want to have an idea on what that would sound like, check out this video and don’t laugh too hard ;-)
Mobile Monday Taipei
As I am in “the neighborhood” I am also travelling to Taipei, Taiwan where I will be speaking at Mobile Monday on August 2nd. More info will be posted soon on http://www.mobilemonday-taipei.com
Even though it’s a really long trip I’m really looking forward to it!
Last year I had the pleasure of speaking at Adobe’s Dev Summit in Bangalore, India. Over 1000 people attended the event and it was an amazing experience that I won’t soon forget. This year the event is going to be even bigger and better.
The Flash Platform Summit is now a 2 day event with over 40 sessions from local and internationally renowned industry leaders and Adobe experts. Sadly I won’t be able to be attend the event this year but I got a sneak peek at the speaker list and it’s already pretty impressive. Trust me… You won’t be disappointed! If you would like to be on stage at the Adobe Flash Platform Summit you can also still enter your session proposals.
If you register before June 25th you even get 60% off! If you’re in the region and are interested in the Flash Platform, you can’t afford to miss this event! Register today!
If you’re anything like me, you probably drink a lot of coffee, love Flash and enjoy talking about geek stuff… Blend all of these ingredients together and you get “Flash Coffee“!
Join Adobe Platform Evangelists from across Europe for a cuppa, an espresso, a double non fat latte or whatever your chosen caffeine jolt is and see what’s new with the Adobe Flash Platform. Ask some questions, see Flash Player 10.1 running on Android devices, see what’s new with Flash Builder 4 and Flash Catalyst, show what you are working on…
These meetups are informal and small, taking place at various coffee shops around Europe. Come along and join us for a drink and a chat! We’re limiting the numbers per meetup depending on the location so register early!
I just added the first two dates and I hope to see you there.

The Cannes Lions Festival is only a few weeks away now. The Cannes Lions Festival is a global festival for those working in advertising and related fields. Thousands of delegates from around the world attend the festival to view shortlisted work and attend seminars, workshops and master classes (via Wikipedia).
Adobe is planning lots of seminars and workshops this year and we’re also helping out with the Young Lions competition. Our CEO Shantanu Narayen is also speaking at the event.
A few weeks ago I built a little widget for the festival. The idea is similar to the MAX widget. It displays the latest Cannes Lions news, users can record their own testimonials and it’s incredibly easy to add the widget to your own social network page, blog or site.
I used Adobe’s Distribution/Promotion Service to enable the share functionality in the widget. This service is incredibly easy to use. With just a couple of lines of code you can add the share menu to your application. There’s no need to write any code that talks to all the specific social network APIs. The Distribution/Promotion Service does all that for you.
The video recording is handled by Influxis. I had never used the Influxis service before but I kept hearing good things about them. I’m glad to say that they are all true! The Influxis admin panel is just amazingly easy to use. Literally within seconds you can have your FMS app up and running on their servers. Influxis is also one of the few providers that give you full access to the Flash Media Interactive Server which was needed to enable this in-app recording experience. I know this almost sounds like an Influxis commercial but trust me… If your app uses Flash Media Server you have to check out Influxis. They even provide a bunch of ready-to-go apps so you can get started in a few minutes.
If you’re going to Cannes for the Cannes Lions Festival, leave a message here or come and say “hi”. See you in Cannes!

If you want to keep up with the latest news on MAX2010, you may also want to sign up for the MAX mailing list!
See in you in Los Angeles from October 23rd to 27!
As most of you know, I switched to a Google Nexus One about 7 weeks ago. (Hmm… That reminds me… I really should finish that blog post I’m writing so you can get an idea how I get on with the N1 coming from 3 years of using Apple’s phone). I absolutely love that the Android platform is an open platform where developers can really use every single API and build any type of application without anyone breathing down their necks. I love that Android devices are soon going to get Flash Player 10.1 and even AIR for standalone applications. That will enable me to build applications without having to learn anything new. And I love that Android is not just about mobile phones.
I am really excited to be speaking at DroidCon, the first ever Android mobile conference in Belgium, next Friday in Brussels. The speaker lineup is really impressive and offers a great variety of topics. With speakers from Google, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, all mobile telco’s in Belgium and application developers this should be a very interesting day.
I will be talking about Flash Player 10.1 and AIR2 coming to Android devices but I realize that the message is a lot stronger when you see it. So I’ll also be showing Flash Player 10.1 in action on my Nexus One and AIR2 on the Motorola Droid.
