E-Seminar: App in a Week – June 7th-10th

With CS5 now available the EMEA Evangelism team have been hard at work prepping for our upcoming tour and the Online Developer Week. The course of events will fall between June 7th – 10th covering everything from design in Photoshop CS5 to development, and even deployment of your applications using the Flash Platform suite of tools.

The tools covered will include Flash Builder, Flash Professional, Flash Catalyst, Flex 4 and the Flash Player 10.1 and AIR 2 runtimes. In my own session we’ll also be covering Device Central and some asset optimization guidelines for targeting mobile phones.

We’ll also look at P2P with Flash Player 10.1 as well as Livecycle, PHP and Java integration on the backend.

Schedule:

Speaking at DroidCon: First Android mobile conference in Belgium

As most of you know, I switched to a Google Nexus One about 7 weeks ago. (Hmm… That reminds me… I really should finish that blog post I’m writing so you can get an idea how I get on with the N1 coming from 3 years of using Apple’s phone). I absolutely love that the Android platform is an open platform where developers can really use every single API and build any type of application without anyone breathing down their necks. I love that Android devices are soon going to get Flash Player 10.1 and even AIR for standalone applications. That will enable me to build applications without having to learn anything new. And I love that Android is not just about mobile phones.

I am really excited to be speaking at DroidCon, the first ever Android mobile conference in Belgium, next Friday in Brussels. The speaker lineup is really impressive and offers a great variety of topics. With speakers from Google, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, all mobile telco’s in Belgium and application developers this should be a very interesting day.

I will be talking about Flash Player 10.1 and AIR2 coming to Android devices but I realize that the message is a lot stronger when you see it. So I’ll also be showing Flash Player 10.1 in action on my Nexus One and AIR2 on the Motorola Droid.

Tickets are still available on http://www.droidcon.be. Hope to see you there!

Adobe User Group XL, Amsterdam, Dec 3rd – Win 1 of 5 tickets!

I am extremely proud to see how well the Dutch Adobe User Group is doing. Proud to see how fast they have grown from a dormant user group to the group that it is today. Every single meeting is very well organized and always sold out with over 250 attendees.

On December 3rd (a little over 9 days from now), they are raising the bar for themselves by organizing the Adobe User Group XL event. The speaker list is very impressive and I really hope I can catch some of the sessions myself. I’m really eager to see what Ralph Hauwert has been up to. He’s been teasing his Twitter followers with little sneaks of his new 3D engine and I really can’t wait to see more. I’m also looking forward to OOO-ii‘s session. These guys must have the coolest job ever. They build all the cool screens you see in Hollywood blockbusters like Star Trek and Minority Report and they use Flash to build them. And then I’m not even talking about the sessions by Group94, Layar, De Monsters, PowerFlasher and all the other speakers. This is really going to be a fantastic event and tickets only cost €75!

While I think the ticket price is well worth it, I did manage to get 5 free tickets. Want one? I’ll make this easy for you. ;-) Point your browser to the Adobe User Group XL website and write down the names of 5 speakers (speaker names, not companies) as a comment to this post. The five first commenters win! (Don’t forget to add your real email address) Well… That didn’t take long :D Congrats to Jolijn, Hans, Marien, Marc and Bart.

See you in Amsterdam!
